Bengali New Year-1429 celebrated at CUET

Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) has celebrated the festival of "Bangla New Year-1429" in a festive and colorful manner. On this occasion, a procession was taken out on 14th April (Thursday), the first day of Baishakh. CUET Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam led the rally.  Children and adolescents including teachers, officials and employees of the university participated in the rally. The rally started from the front of the Vice-Chancellor's building and went around the main gate and roundabout of the campus and ended at the administrative building. At this time, the CUET VC exchanged greetings with all those present and wished them a Happy Bengali New Year-1429. Later, the Vice Chancellor of CUET, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam spoke as the chief guest in a short discussion program under the administrative building. Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Dr. Md. Moinul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Dr. Mohammad Mashiul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning; Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, Registrar (Additional Responsibilities); Prof. Farooq-uz-Zaman Chowdhury, Director of Student Welfare; Prof. Md. Rezaul Karim, President of the Teachers Association (Acting); Professor. M.A. Ziaul Haider, General Secretary of the Officers Association Mohammad Harun; President of the Staff Association Dr. Jamal Uddin also spoke at the time. The program was by Deputy Director (Public Relations) Mohammad Fazlur. Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said, “Pahela Baishakh is the festival of life of Bengalis. An integral part of Boishakh is the procession. UNESCO has recognized it as a World cultural Heritage. The procession is a reflection of non-communal Bangladesh. So, we have to hold the spirit of Bengali nationalism and non-communal consciousness. I hope that the first Baishakh will leave all the evil forces behind and bring peace for all in the days to come.”
